Tips for Grand Canyon.

Best time to visit Grand Canyon is in Summer. Reason being in a mountain state it's ahead an hour from Vegas and if sunset's by 5:15pm or 5:30pm in Winters you have lost one hr of time because of the time difference. Also being at an elevation of more than 6000 ft it's a lot colder in winter.

One of the places mostly visited is the South Rim. You have many beautiful spots for watching the sun sets. Hopi Point is supposed to be one of the best places for viewing the sunset. But Powell point also gives you some breathtaking views since it's less crowded and you can spend more time taking some photographs with fewer people around. You have trams/buses running every 15 mins to take you to the various points. For more information on various points the map and the shuttle route click here

I personally suggest reaching a day before and stay at the canyon and then you have the entire next day for canyon. If you are planning in months of Nov-Dec plan to take some winter clothing, gloves and caps.

How to get the show tickets for low/free

Many of the hotels offer free show tickets. For eg. if you are staying in the strip they will offer you some free show tickets for the shows at their hotels or some other hotels. I am aware of atleast 2 hotels like the Excalibur and Tropicana who offered us free shows. Only catch is you should have some proof of being a married couples like same address on a Driver's License or something.

In worst case you can always get the tickets at half the price from the shops below the coca-cola bottle for the same day viewing. These include most of the shows except a very few ones like the Celine Dione Show, since they are booked months in advance. Hope this helps if you are planning a trip to Vegas.

Tips for Casinos

1) Preferably don't play on the slots over the Weekends. Play on weekday. On the weekdays play table games. By experience I lost money on the week end and won if not lot of but more money over the weekdays.

2) Don't play in most of the famous casinos if you don't want to gamble lot. Play off strip or some of the not so famous casino. Personally I won at lady luck and Tropicana and lost in Excalibur, Luxor and Mandaly Bay. See a pattern ..;-)

3) Roulette has the maximum possibility of losing money than any of the other table games mathematically.

9 things to see in Vegas

1) Musical fountains of Bellagio ( Free)

Nothing can describe this is words. You have to be there to
experience it. If you are in Vegas you can't afford to miss
this. Also there is no way you can miss this. It happens every
15 mins at nite infront of Bellagio.




2) Sirens of TI (Free)

Staged in front of hotel Treasure Island on Strip.A pirates show which lasts about 20 mins. It happens every 90 mins starting about 5:30 pm. Fantastic show with lots of fireworks. It gets really crowded over the weekends. Reach early for the best viewing spot.

3) Moving statues of Caesar's palace (Free)

Staged in Forum shops of Caesar's Palace every 60 mins through out the day.

4) Show at Aladdin infront of V theatre (Free)

A mix of different acrobats from different countries. A nice prelude to the Variety show "V". This is staged in the forum shops of Aladdin. Another show you can watch is the Rainstorm inside the forum shops of Aladdin.

5) Show at Tropicana ( Free)

Another acrobat show staged every 75 or 90 mins. Acrobats performs some daredevils hanging from the Ceiling of the Tropicana right above the slot machines.

6) Gondola Ride at Venetian (30 per couple)

Both inside and outside of Venetian(Build on the theme of Venice).
The inside ride is though costly but probably more beautiful than the outside one.

7) Volcano eruption in front of Mirage (free)

An artificial volcano erupts in front of Mirage every hr. The effects and fireworks are good for a free show.. :-)

8) Ride to the top of the Eiffel tower (10/head)

Ride to the top of Eiffel tower is worth the money as you not only
get a complete view of Strip from the top. Best time to go up is
definitely after sunset. Also the top gives you a perfect view of the fountains of Bellagio from the top. Though you may have to wait sometime for getting a perfect spot over the weekends.

9) Freemont Street Experience, Downtown

It's a laser show performed on the ceiling of Freemont street in downtown. Show timings are every hr starting probably 6:00 pm till midnight. Best mode of transport is a bus ride. You will need about 30-45 mins to reach from strip to the downtown.
